PACKING / CRATING

Arab Cargo’s sophisticated packing solutions are designed and engineered in our own workshop, by our experienced in-house team, whether for fragile or valuable items, art & antiques, dangerous goods or lifesaving medicine.

Bag Wrapping Machine

Arab Cargo has a state of the art bag wrapping machine used for securing for personal effects.

After the luggage exits our x-ray machine it is placed immediately on the bag wrapping machine which wraps the bags numerous times in an industrial strength waterproof plastic wrap which stretches to over 200% capacity. This protects new luggage from damage, but more importantly keeps contents absolutely secure and prevents anyone from tampering or interfering with the bags.

The whole process is filmed on two cameras. No other company offers this degree of high level security as standard.

Our bag wrapping machine is the same as those used in UK airports where the charge is over £11 to wrap each piece of luggage. Arab Cargo offer this service for FREE!

Fine Art & Antiques

Taking care of your fine art, antiques or design furniture is imperative to us whether they’re shipped by air, sea or road. The process of protecting art and antiques involves various packing methods and the correct materials must be used. Utilising only the very best and sturdiest materials, we build custom made crates specifically designed to fit snuggly with various packing materials placed inside the crate to keep the goods safe from abrasion and shock. In our hands these steps guarantee the protection and safe transit of your treasured items.

We take photographs throughout each stage of the packing process to verify condition and safe handling.

Dangerous Goods Packing

As a full IATA member we have a team trained to CAA standard for hazardous air cargo that is skilled in dangerous goods packing. Strict regulations govern the transport of dangerous goods, and packaging is the essential component. The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations provide packing instructions for all dangerous goods acceptable for air transport with a wide range of options for inner, outer and single packagings. Our trained staff will determine the particular solution depending on the quantity and type of substance.

Packing Groups

Packing Groups are used for the purpose of determining the degree of protective packaging required for Dangerous Goods during transportation.

Group I: great danger, and most protective packaging required. Some combinations of different classes of dangerous goods on the same vehicle or in the same container are forbidden if one of the goods is Group I

Group II: medium danger

Group III: least danger among regulated goods, and least protective packaging within the transportation requirement.

Medicine and Perishables

Arab Cargo offers a number of different temperature-controlled packaging solutions particularly for medicine and perishables. Light weight foil boxes packed containing coolants and gel packs can keep items under 8°C for up to 48 hours. We hold stocks of various sizes of disposable 2-8°C and 15-25°C  boxes which can be built up on pallets.

Arab Cargo is also at the forefront of innovative cold chain solutions; we use refrigerated units, which are insulated units without mechanical refrigeration. Eutectic refrigeration allows the required temperature to be maintained for over 24 hours for chilled and frozen products. These solutions are ideal for airports that do not have adequate warehousing/cold-storage facilities.
